David Burns - Captain
Captain David Burns was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. He currently resides in West Palm Beach, Florida. Prior to yachting, Captain David was a mechanic, musician, oil company administrator and Navy-Radio operator. He joined the sea cadets at age 13 and started racing on slow dinghies and then on larger yachts. He sailed to the US Virgin Islands and was asked to run honeymoon charters. He spent 7 years plus 28 – 30 charters per year there. He holds a 3000 GT MCA Master’s license (Yachts), RYA – Ocean & Offshore Yacht Master, ECDIS & GMDSS. His goals and aspirations in life are to retire happy and comfortable. Captain David’s hobbies include reading, acoustic guitar, travel, walking and cycling. He always enjoys meeting new people. With Captain David at the helm, the guests are sure to have the most memorable experience possible, as his dynamic and warm personality is evident from the moment you meet him. We are so lucky to have Captain David as the leader of our Jopaju team!
Stella Doble – Chief Stew
Stella was born and raised in Aspen, Colorado. She currently resides in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She grew up hiking, camping, skiing and rafting in Aspen and has worked in the service industry since she was 14 years old. Her roles included bartending, serving and cooking. She attended college in Arizona and has a Bachelor’s Degree in studio art. She became interested in yachting in 2016 after meeting some yachters on a trip to Belize. She was drawn to the industry due to her hospitality background. Moving on to yachts has given her the ability to bring her service skills to the next level. Her hobbies include skiing, white water rafting, stand up paddling, camping, hiking, drawing, painting, music and visiting cultural sites. With Stella’s hospitality experience and her outgoing personality, she is a great asset to the Endeavour crew and will make the guests feel comfortable and welcome the moment they step onboard. We are happy to have Stella as part of the team!
Joseph Mathew - Chef
Joseph was born in Waukegan, Illinois and raised in Burlington, Wisconsin. He currently resides in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Joseph got into the yachting industry in 2013, as he wanted to further his skills while traveling abroad and learning foreign techniques and flavors. He was classically French trained with an American Fusion Back Bone. Aside from yachting, his experience has brought him to many land-based estates as well. His cooking styles are influenced of Southern Soul Food, East Coast Seafood, Caribbean, Baja Mexico, Japanese and Korean Street food, Italian, Mediterranean, German, Polish and Himalayan. He enjoys challenging his cooking techniques. When not cooking, Joseph enjoys hiking and skiing. Joseph will surely bring the most memorable creations to your palate! With Joseph onboard, be rest assured you will experience amazing cuisine to remember for a lifetime to come!
Craig Babb – Mate / Engineer
Craig was born and raised in Durban, South Africa. He currently resides in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. His maritime experience is very impressive as he has cruised the Mediterranean, Caribbean, USA East Coast as well as numerous crossings, 38 Trans-Atlantic crossings, 3 Indian Ocean crossings and 1 South Atlantic Ocean crossing. Craig lived for many years in the Bahamas and has extensive knowledge of the area. His skills are very diverse in that he holds a Yacht Master’s 200-ton license and also has extensive knowledge on the engineering side. Craig’s hobbies include sports, travel and fiction reading. He also holds a private pilot’s license. During his military service, Craig served in the South Africa Defense force as an officer in a Marine Reconaissence unit. His warm personality and calm demeanor is an asset to any yachting team! Craig will make it a point to show you all of the best spots during your chartering adventure!
Lauren Hockenberry – Deck Stew
Lauren was born and raised in Hedgesville, West Virginia. Prior to yachting, she was in the hospitality industry working as a server and doing wedding events and coordination. She was also a Nanny. Lauren is new to yachting but she grew up on the river with a small boat so the next step was to move forward to bigger boats in the ocean. Her education includes 2 years of College. Her goals and aspirations down the road include becoming a Mate. The Bahamas is on the top of her list of favorite places. Her hobbies and interests include sports, camping, water activities, painting and volleyball. She has an awesome dog that she leaves back home and can’t wait to visit when she comes back! Lauren’s bubbly personality resonates throughout and she will make any guest feel at home and welcome. She is a great asset to Team Jopaju!

Yacht terms: Plus Expenses
The price includes a professional crew operating your chartered yacht, but all running expenses such as fuel, tax, provisions and any other costs are extra. Calculate between 15-25% for a sailing yacht and 25-35% for a motor yacht on top of the given rate with an APA cash payment made to the ships agent or captain, who will keep an open tap and produce full accounts of all expenditures.
