Jack
Jack’s sailing story kicked off in a pretty unforgettable way: crossing the Atlantic aboard the original La Vagabonde monohull with his cousin Riley and Elayna, right as they were launching their YouTube channel, Sailing La Vagabonde. He’d only taken the helm for the first time in his 20s, but after that crossing there was no going back.
From there, Jack went all in. He earned his RYA Yachtmaster in England, skippered for a major flotilla company, and eventually found his real calling in teaching. That paid off in a big way when the American Sailing Association named him 2022 ASA Instructor of the Year. These days he’s racked up around 250,000 nautical miles, five ocean crossings, and plenty of international racing, captaining and teaching all over the world.
Onboard, Jack is just as happy talking sail trim as he is leading the way to the best snorkel spot in the bay. He loves getting guests involved and just as happy to do all the work and let the guests relax.

Yacht terms: Plus Expenses
The price includes a professional crew operating your chartered yacht, but all running expenses such as fuel, tax, provisions and any other costs are extra. Calculate between 20-30% for a sailing yacht and 30-40% for a motor yacht on top of the given rate with an APA cash payment made to the ships agent or captain, who will keep an open tap and produce full accounts of all expenditures. Unused APA money will be refunded. Inquire for more information.

PLEASE INQUIRE FOR LESS THAN 6 NIGHTS: For 5 nights, divide the rate by 6 and multiply by 5. For less than 5 nights, divide the rate by 5, and multiply by the number of charter days.

• CREW GRATUITY: It is customary to tip your crew at the end of your charter. The amount you leave is totally at your discretion and should be based on the level of service provided. We had the most incredible week sailing with Vagabonde Adventures! From start to finish, the experience was smooth, educational, fun, and so welcoming. Jack and Daryl made everything feel easy and relaxed, while also making sure we were learning and fully immersed in the experience.
Jack was amazing with our whole family - patient, kind, and a fantastic teacher. He not only made sailing fun, but also made sure to share as much knowledge as we could absorb throughout the week. He encouraged the kids to snorkel, dive, and enjoy every part of the adventure - not just the sailing - which made the trip even more memorable. He met everyone at their own level, included the kids in everything, and helped build their confidence with such ease.
Daryl not only made the most delicious meals all week, but she also went out of her way to accommodate my food intolerances with such kindness and care. She always found great options that worked for everyone, and even came up with fun cooking activities to keep the kids entertained during the longer stretches on the water.
By the end of the week, our kids were asking if we could move to the ocean and live on a boat - and honestly, we understood the feeling! They made the days fly by, and we made memories we’ll hold onto forever.
We would 100% recommend Vagabonde Adventures to anyone looking to learn to sail, connect as a family, and enjoy an unforgettable experience on the water. Truly a 10/10 trip!

Spent a week with Jack and Eta on a charter for a week of fun sailing in Greece and getting ASA certified at the same time. To say it was fantastic fails to capture all the hundreds of small moments that made the week so great. From chilled out evenings hanging out on deck, walking in small villages onshore, learning so much each day, and being in the company of such wonderful people.

He does an amazing job of constantly teaching you everything there is to know about sailing while at the same time making it super fun and feel laidback and like a five star vacation. The boat is in better than new condition and is a blast to sail (it was my first time sailing) and also luxurious and comfortable to live on. This was absolutely one of the best family adventures we’ve ever had. I highly recommend Vagabond Adventures. We took our family, son 17 and daughter 14, to get sailing licenses with them in the Bahamas and it was bucket list dream come true for all of us.
