Rum Runner - Crewed Catamaran Charter

Meet the Rum Runner crew for the 2026-27 charter season.

CAPTAIN CHARLIE MACDONALD
Charlie started sailing at the age of ten and grew up in a family of sailors. By the time she finished school, she already knew she wanted to work on the water.

Charlie holds a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster Offshore, which she completed in the south of the UK, alongside other qualifications like AEC1&2. Most recently, Charlie and Cody worked aboard a charter catamaran in Belize. Being based in Central America made it easy to explore nearby countries, including completing her Divemaster in Mexico before returning to dive on the Belize barrier reef.

When back home, Charlie volunteers as a dinghy sailing instructor, working with teenagers to help them discover sailing. She is always keen to try new water-based sports.

Charlie has a real enthusiasm for hospitality and everything that comes with creating a great guest experience. She loves making cocktails, getting to know guests, and making sure everyone feels relaxed, looked after, and part of the adventure. For her, the perfect charter is a balance of safe, professional sailing and plenty of fun, exploring beautiful destinations and finding the best spots to swim and snorkel.

She has worked and travelled throughout the Mediterranean and Caribbean and thrives in the lifestyle that comes with moving between different islands and countries. For her yachting is good food, new places, great company, and the opportunity to live on the water.

CHEF CODY COX
Born and raised in Kenya, Cody spent much of her life living in the outdoors. She started sailing at a young age with her family, exploring the East African coast until the ocean became her second home.

Growing up in a big family with a mother and a sister cooking professionally and plenty of garden space, food was central to the family rhythm. Cooking and eating home-grown produce was the start of her culinary adventure.

Fast-forward to a university summer, when Cody decided to work on boats in Croatia as a host. It was here that she discovered a love for creating delicious Mediterranean food on board. She had so much fun that she returned the following summer, and it was then that she decided to put her corporate career search on hold and make the leap across to the Caribbean.

She spent a full year working aboard catamarans in Belize, where she completed her Divemaster qualifications while developing Caribbean-inspired menus. Since then, she has also completed her Yachtmaster Offshore qualification, allowing her to be as useful and versatile as possible to her fellow crew members.

Vivacious, adventurous, and full of passion, Cody has a deep love for the ocean, the people who call it home, and the environment that sustains it. Her cooking reflects that same spirit - fresh, vibrant, and inspired by the places and cultures she has encountered along the way.
