Gale Winds Crew Profile

Crew Number5
Crew SmokeNo
CaptainKaren Holton

Captain Karen Holtan - Karen is originally from Oregon and while growing up on a small farm watched Jacque Cousteau specials any chance she got. After becoming a SCUBA instructor, she started working full time on the water and worked her way up from deckhand/instructor to Captain. After 4 years on SCUBA vessels Karen then transferred to yachts and has had a chance to work from Canada to the Caribbean to Croatia. When not onboard helping guests, Karen loves to travel, take photos and get in the water anytime she can.

First Mate/Engineer Avery Russell - was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, but found himself pulled to south Florida in pursuit of the salt life where the ocean, water sports and boating became his new way of life. Avery found that yachting combined his love for the ocean with his interest in traveling the world.

Chief Stewardess Alana De Jager - Alana is originally from South Africa, where she grew up in the small surf town of Jeffreys Bay. She moved to Cape Town with her twin sister to pursue their passion for garment construction and finished with a BA Degree in Fashion design back in 2014. After completing her BA Degree, she had a quest for travel and adventure. The motivation to live and work on the water came naturally and in 2015 Alana decided to pursue her career within the yachting industry. Having worked on boats ranging between 30m to 60m and completing three crossings in the last 7 years, Alana is committed to give her guests the most enjoyable experience and making sure all their needs are attended to.

Deckhand/Stewardess Emily Fozard - Emily hails from the coast of Southern California where her childhood love for the ocean has manifested into a career. After graduating she took a gap year to travel the world and surf. During her last stop in Indonesia, she discovered yachting and started her career in the Mediterranean. Besides surfing, her downtime enjoyments are reading memoirs and exploring new cities.

Chef LaDarrion Wallace - LaDarrion is originally from Missouri and was given the passion and love of cooking from his grandmother. He was never far from the kitchen growing up. After finishing culinary school, he worked at a myriad of hospitality establishments where he honed the skills he possesses today. When not in the galley you can find him on a board of any kind from kitesurfing to snowboarding. Traveling is his passion, and it reflects in his creative and diverse cuisines.

Tracie and I feel obligated to give a brief synopsis of our experience with your team. Please feel free to share this with the crew, your owner and anyone else you wish.
Our honeymoon experience is one we will never forget and you and your team helped us make these beautiful memories.

Service Organizations are judged by 5 metrics which I have a pneumonic called
RARE Tangibles
1. Responsiveness: The crew exceeded our expectations. We felt as if each member was constantly asking “What can I do next”
2. Assurance: We had confidence in each team member, especially Captain Michael who navigated our needs despite a pandemic and a storm that came in during our charter. Simply stated, my wife and I felt safe “Always.” Laura even sent David as our “personal bodyguard” when we simply went for a walk while in St Martin at night.
3. Reliability: All of our needs and expectations were met and then some. Laurás attention to details, Dariós Michelin 3 caliber cooking and Sven safely taking us to beaches and other areas, even in rough seas.
4. Empathy: Tracie and I both felt a bond with the crew. We felt, and the crew made us feel as if we were family. Furthermore the crew often made us feel as if we were part of the Royal Family. We felt as if Captain and crew truly cared about our needs.
5. Tangibles: The refit of the yacht was impeccable. The presentation of the food looked and tasted like a Michelin 3 restaurant, the amenities looked like the Ritz Carlton and the service was impeccable. Even going out fishing with Sven we could tell he was doing all he could to give us the fishing experience we wanted. It was all about us, the customers.
Tracie and I know that this level of service and offerings are hard. We have about 850 employees in our company so we know what great looks like.

Truly Yours,

New Year´s 2021/2022

We had a outstanding charter on Cresendo! Mike and his crew were terrific. Meals from (Chef) were excellent! Service was top notch. Mike is an excellent Captain who made every day special with diving, water sports, kite boarding, and more.
