Captain Gregory Pogan grew up with a love of the water. From childhood his family owned a boat, and summer vacations were spent at Lake Cumberland, KY. At the tender age of five years old “Pogan” as he likes to be called, learned to help his dad steer the family pontoon boat.

Pogan first visited St Thomas in the summer of 1998, to witness a wedding. Falling in love with the islands, he did not waste any time, and moved to St Thomas in the fall of 1998. Originally from Ohio, Pogan studied Management and Marketing at Ashland University, but after working on land in St Thomas for two years, he realized that his passion was for boating and the sea. Pogan earned his USCG 100 Ton Captain’s License in 2001, and quickly set about trading his 9 to 5 job for a life of freedom and adventure on the sea.

Captain Pogan has spent the last 15 years exploring the waters of the Virgin Islands as a charter captain and rescue diver. Pogan loves nothing more than to be out on the water, with visitors and locals alike, sharing the beautiful sights, abundant nature, and amazing stories he has collected over the years about our local Caribbean islands. Laid back, professional, and knowledgeable are some terms frequently used to describe his personality. Captain Pogan looks forward to helping the guests have experiences and create memories that they will treasure for a lifetime!

Your First Mate, Sadie Cowley, will greet you warmly aboard the Sailing Yacht Sirena with a chilled cocktail, warmed towel and brilliant smile. She will assist you putting away your luggage before you and your group set sail into the Caribbean waters.

Sadie, while not born in St. Thomas has lived on island since she was five. She began working with her father as a boat builder and quickly fell in love with everything the ocean has to offer. Her mother is a jewelry designer and her work showcases the Caribbean lifestyle.

She spent several years working in the back of the house of restaurants and catering companies, honing her culinary skills. She has an innate skill in creating delicious and healthy dishes aboard S/Y Sirena as well as a talent for concocting smooth, tasty drinks for all aboard!

With her Merchant Mariner credentials in hand, she set sail on the waters of the Caribbean to show her guests all the beauty of the tropical waters. Her experience in the Virgin Islands gives her the ability to guide guests into lesser known places that boast quiet opulence of beaches and snorkeling spots. She knows many of the honey-holes filled with tropical fish along with some of the turtles and sting rays favorite dining spots. She will show you some of the most beautiful under sea life the waters have to offer.

You’ll certainly enjoy your time aboard with Sadie as her personality and humor with captivate you while aboard, her deliciously prepared meals will make for your perfect vacation.

Sirena V50 Guest Reviews

MAY 2017 (previous boat Jester)

Incredible trip with Captain Jim and Holly! Thank you for accommodating our group even though the timing was not perfect for you! This is definitely a do over!

MAY 2017 (previous boat Jester)

Our Jester Sailing Adventure was the highlight of our trip! Lunch was wonderful, on the boat, as were the snacks offered. Jim couldn´t have been more personable, friendly, full of information, and competent as captain. We had some of the best snorkeling I could ever have imagined. It was a gorgeous, memorable day.

MAY 2017 (previous boat Jester)

I have sailed with Jester Jim on many occasions and I believe he has the most fun and enjoyable boat in the Caribbean! He always has a smile on his face and he really cares about showing his guest the ´time of their lives´! A day with Jimmy is a guaranteed day of fun, sailing, great food and great music!

MAY 2017 (previous boat Jester)

My husband and I had Captain Jim and the Jester to ourselves on an October day, and we enjoyed every minute. Jim played great music and had snacks and drinks ready when we got on board. He provided interesting information about the islands we were passing and seeing in the distance on the way to our first snorkeling spot on St. John.
We had our own snorkels, but used Jim´s fins which were really easy to get on and off. There was such a great variety of fish where we anchored - I didn´t want to stop! But Jim had grilled some really tasty chicken and had salads and things ready when I climbed out of the water. He has a nice ladder to use, and a fresh water rinse which was very nice.
After a great lunch we headed to another spot where I saw a beautiful spotted ray swimming about - a highlight! My husband also saw turtles which he really enjoyed.
On the way back we enjoyed some ´Jester Juice´ which is Jim´s version of a painkiller - fresh juices, coconut cream, different rums - a perfect way to end the day. Just to note - we could have been drinking them all day, but I don´t like to mix cocktails with snorkeling! We would love to return and spend another day on the Jester.

MARCH 2017 (previous boat Jester)

We stopped in St. Thomas on our cruise, and chose to spend our day with Captain Jim aboard the beautiful Jester. What a fabulous day we had! Jim and Holly were outstanding hosts! We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with them while sailing among the beautiful Virgin Islands and enjoying the unlimited icy drinks from the cooler!

Once moored, we dove into the beautiful water to swim, float and snorkel, while Jim and Holly barbecued a delicious chicken lunch, which was beautifully presented once we climbed back onboard. They also blended up their amazing ´Jester Juice´, which is Jim´s version of a Painkiller. It was WAY yummier than anything we had anywhere else on our cruise! SO good!!!

We never would have imagined that we would be exploring the Caribbean on a private sailboat. What an incredible experience with great people! Thank you Jim and Holly! We´ll never forget our day on the Jester!

JANUARY 2017 (previous boat Jester)

We were so lucky to find Capt´n Jim of Jester Sailing. My daughter and I almost jumped on one of the crowded snorkel boats that hold 30 - 40 people. On Jester Sailing there were only 6 people including the captain and his mate Holly, and it was about the same price. Beautiful sailing, snorkeling and lots of laughs. Capt´n Jim and Holly, I can´t thank you enough for such a fun time.

JANUARY 2017 (previous boat Jester)

We had a great day in St. Thomas sailing with Captain Jim! The sailing was fantastic and Captain Jim´s hospitality is exceptional. We enjoyed snorkeling at two great locations including up close encounters with sea turtles and sting rays! The food was delicious and the Jester juice was a hit for everyone! We could not have asked for a better day! Thank you Captain Jim!

JANUARY 2017 (previous boat Jester)

I can´t say how much we enjoyed our time on the Jester. Captain Jim is knowledgeable and friendly. He plays the best tunes and he made the trip so much fun and relaxing. You will love the Jester Juice and his delicious BBQ. We´ll definitely come back to see Captain Jim when we visit St. Thomas again! Next time we´re bringing the whole family.

NOVEMBER 2016 (previous boat Jester)

Our trip on the Jester was absolutely ´WORTHY´!!! We spent the day sailing, partaking of Jester´s juice and laughing all day long. There was ample relaxation and good vibes. Jim and Deb went above and beyond to not only be hospitable, but also had fun with us. The lack of wind was ´brutal´....but not for Cpt. Jim! Captain Jim will be our captain again, if not on The Jester, wherever the wind takes us!

OCTOBER 2016 (previous boat Jester)

My husband and I booked a full day sail on Jester and it was the best part of our 8 day trip on St. Thomas. The entire experience was flawless from start to finish. My husband and I were both amazed at Captain Jim´s knowledge of the water and the surrounding areas we sailed passed. We enjoyed snorkeling in two different areas with the use of his equipment. If you don´t like snorkeling, there are rafts and noodles to float on. Something for everyone! He prepared a delicious lunch and even beautifully plated my own gluten free lunch I brought for myself! My husband devoured the lunch and we both enjoyed the Jester Juice. Captain Jim was fun and professional. We HIGHLY recommend spending your day with him!

SEPTEMBER 2016 (previous boat Jester)

We had a great time on Jester. Capt. Jim went above and beyond to show us a great time on the water. We have chartered sailing trips before, but Capt Jim is a safe captain, but his sense of hospitality makes him unique. He was a fantastic host! The lunch was fantastic.

We took the trip with two teens. Normally they find sailing a bore, but they had a great time on Jester.

I highly recommend Capt Jim´s Jester trip.

SEPTEMBER 2016 (previous boat Jester)

Captain Jim was very fun to sail with and easy going. My family and I had an amazing time sailing during August 2016. The locations Captain Jim brings you to have phenomenal views such as Pillsbury Sound. Not to mention Capt. Jim was very knowledgeable on the local aquatic life. A little known secret in the U.S.V.I is that Captain Jim is the best chef on the islands. The lunch my family was provided was very good, 5-star.
