La Grande Bellezza Crew Profile
Captain Jason Clay
Originally from a small town in the foothills of North Carolina, Jason was a successful IT Professional. Growing tired of his office job, Jason set out to make a career change. For years he honed his sailing skills while running a successful day charter business on Lake Norman just outside of Charlotte, NC. Once his daughter was off to college, he moved to Charleston, SC where he finished up his IT career and started his new career as a charter boat Captain in the islands. He has since extensively sailed the Bahamas and Virgin Islands taking great care of his guests that come from all over the world to see these beautiful places. He holds a USCG 100-ton Master Licenses with Sail and STCW endorsements. Jason enjoys showing guests those special places that not many people know about, but are sure to leave a lasting memory. He especially loves the beautiful Virgin Islands where the islands are diverse, and the wildlife is abundant. He personalizes each charter itinerary around what best suits his guests. He likes to spend his days hiking the ruins, beachcombing, snorkeling, and fishing the reefs. He also enjoys learning and talking about the history of each island. While cruising with Jason you can simply kick back and relax knowing you are in good hands! Captain Jason will help you escape to that once in a lifetime vacation that you´ve always dreamed about.
First Mate / Chef Mindy Goforth
Raised in Charleston, SC Mindy naturally loves the ocean, the preservation of historic architecture, different food cuisines and is an environmental steward for protecting ecosystems. After five years working in hospitality and tourism management on the beautiful Kiawah and Seabrook islands, she decided to enhance her education and attended the College of Charleston. Mindy graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of science in Biology, focusing on environmental stewardship, marine biodiversity, and fish biology. Mindy worked as a lab researcher for a few years, but always caught herself staring out at the Charleston harbor dreaming of seeing the things she studied in school. She bought a sailboat and taught herself how to sail a 32´ Endeavor monohull. Mindy had to learn from the ground up, from scraping the hull, replacing oil, water impellers to navigating the waterways sailing wing on wing. Mindy is always reaching out to learn new things! She is an adventurous explorer, not surprisingly, she quit her job in Charleston and found her niche as a chef and first mate in the Bahamas, Key West, and Virgin Islands. Mindy is a natural on yachts, serving cocktails and cooking meals for those on the ultimate vacation. Mindy brings her own flare of Charleston cuisine to the islands with her signature low country dishes that leave you feeling you are at home. With her passion for food, people and marine life, Mindy has found her place in paradise. Mindy holds a USCG Merchant Mariners credential with STCW endorsement. She is currently working towards her Captains licenses. Jason and Mindy met as friends while living aboard their sailboats in Charleston. Undoubtedly, their shared interests and love for the water brought them together. Today they are living life to the fullest in the beautiful Virgin Islands. Together this fun-loving couple with their Southern hospitality and charm will have you enjoying your vacation, with unforgettable memories!

La Grande Bellezza Guest Reviews
Broker provided comments from Christmas 2019
How did you enjoy your cruising vacation?
This was our first family boat charter experience and everyone feels like it was one of the best family vacations ever!
How would you describe your Captain and crew? Were they Courteous? Helpful?Friendly? Attentive? Knowledgeable?
Captain Andes, Chef Tayla and First Mate Jayde Couzyn were all exceptional. Each, in their own way, made the trip as special as it was.
Tell me about your meals? Did the menus meet your expectations? Did your Chef and
Crew pay close attention to your Preference Sheets?
Yes the quality of the food, the presentation and the service exceeded our expectations and closely followed our preference sheet. If anything, the volume of food was a bit more than we could eat. We mentioned that to Tayla and she cut down the portion size. She said each group was different and did not want to under feed us.
How is the yacht? Is she clean and well-maintained? Were your cabins comfortable?
The yacht was EXCELLENT! Clean, spacious and very comfortable for a group of 7. No one felt crowded and there was good privacy. The cabins and the heads were all very clean and comfortable.
What did you like most about the yacht? What did you like the least? If you could change anything, what would have made you happier?
The variety of the available spaces on the boat made it very comfortable. The crew could not have been more fun and attentive. A young crew seems like the perfect match for us. The Capt took us on a different off boat adventure every day.
How did you find the pace and the itinerary of your vacation?
We enjoyed the pace. We traveled to a new island or bay every morning, so we woke up eating breakfast at a new and interesting place each day.
Would you charter this yacht again? If not, please explain:
Thanks Again for helping us fulfill a family dream vacation
Andres review 2019
Andres is another essential part of the Zingara (previous yacht) experience. He instructed two new divers through their SCUBA certifications with ease. He helped us catch a Jack fish and Tarpon off the stern, and was always excited to help us fish and adventure on the water! He was a great captain of the tender boat and even helped a first-time tuber feel safe enough to try it out. He is also an expert crafter of cocktails and the beverages of your dreams—be sure to try the Painkillers! His fun-loving attitude keeps spirits high throughout the trip.
Best ever Mojitos 2019
Dear Lee, Tyler, Camille and Andres, Thank you for making our return to the beautiful BVI’s as special as before. It’s been 17 years since we last visited and post hurricane it is back in great shape. The bars, beaches, restaurants, quiet bays to anchor overnight etc are all wonderful, even The Baths were not crowded.....bliss! You all made us feel so looked after, nothing was too much trouble, so helpful, creative, fun and friendly.....it felt like having friends on the boat with us! Calm Camille was brilliant with my 12 year old and his first diving experience, All Action Andres kept my 14 year old adrenaline fueled up ( ... and us with the best ever Mojitos!
