Jamie and Susannah are a team forged through their shared passion for the environment, adventure and a love for life, both travelling the world their paths crossed in the Caribbean and they have been inseparable ever since. As a couple, they set their sights on the charter industry from the word go and their accomplishments are a testament to their abilities. Their unmistakable passion for what they do creates an unforgettable experience where an atmosphere of safety and professionalism allows their guests to immerse themselves in the care free and fun loving Caribbean vibe they themselves fell in love with. They thrive on creating an environment where no task seems to be a chore, no effort to great in the search of creating the perfect experience for their guests.
Captain Jamie grew up on the shores of South Africa. His parents being avid SCUBA divers, he was taught from an early age to understand the ocean and all that goes on above and below its surface, to protect it, to love it and most of all, to respect it. Growing up the Indian Ocean was his natural playground and at a young age he was already an accomplished surfer, free diver and spearfisherman he became a qualified SCUBA diver at the age of 12 and spent much of his free time in his early teens racing 30ft monohulls up and down the coast. The ocean became a way of life and from a young age Jamie knew the sea would forever be his home. He began his professional life as a SCUBA instructor at the age of 18, working for a company specializing in the conservation and research of aquatic life. He then used his natural affinity to share his love and knowledge of the underwater world to travel the eastern coast of Africa from the vast shores of south Africa, up through Mozambique, into Tanzania and Zanzibar. All the while honing his skills captaining dive boats and sailing yachts in some of the most challenging environments on earth. His adventures ultimately landed him in the British Virgin Islands in 2013, working initially for shore based companies he ran SCUBA diving excursions throughout the BVI as well as working for a commercial diving operation specializing in yacht maintenance, repair and salvage. No longer able to be confined to land he joined a dive liveaboard as a dive instructor but his knowledge and natural ability saw him promoted through the ranks of engineer and up to Captain of the 105ft vessel all in the space of a year. Mentored by a true legend in the BVI charter industry Jamie was gifted with knowledge of the area that took his employer forty years to accumulate, combined with years of experience in the area, you can safely say Jamie is an expert on the area and can truly show you “Natures Little Secrets”.
Chef Susannah hails from Northern Ireland but is no stranger to the water, with her family being very active members of the Royal Yacht Club, she was taught to sail on Lasers from a young age in waters where the consequences of a mistake could mean a dunk in the Atlantics dangerously could waters. She was also taught to handle the large rescue Ribs and was present on many safety and rescue operations coordinated by her father. Her thirst for adventure soon had her travelling the world, visiting countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Thailand, Vietnam and the list goes on. Her travels and her outgoing nature has allowed her to immerse herself in a variety of cultures which ignited her passion for people and of course food. Drawn to the water she was soon a qualified diver and keen surfer. Her travels brought her to the BVI in 2015 and she fell in love with the Caribbean way of life. The beauty of the Virgin Islands combined with the endless possibilities for adventure and exploration both above and below the water meant she knew she had found a place she could call home. After many months working as a stewardess Susannah found the galley calling her name and so her professional culinary journey began. Not one to do things halfheartedly Susannah went on to complete not one but two professional chef courses. Under the guidance of many excellent teachers at Ashburtons Chef Academy (Devon, England) she completed the level 2 course in culinary skills and food safety in catering. Just a few months later motivated and ready to learn more she attended the prestigious Ballymaloe cookery school (Co.Cork Ireland) and graduated from their intensive 3 month course. Susannah’s cooking reflects seasonal local produce and contemporary plating whilst always considering guests preferences.
Having sailed over two thousand miles together, in the last two years, throughout the Caribbean, Jamie and Susannah are excited to embark on their next adventure, Island Hoppin’. Trading bigger yachts and larger numbers for the luxury, comfort and performance of a new Lagoon 52. They cannot wait to show their guests the beauty of the Virgin Islands and share their love for the water and all the amazing activities available. Why not come Island Hoppin’ with a crew that’s made for it and a vessel named for it!

Island Hoppin´ Guest Reviews
I’m afraid we are ruined for sailing aboard anything other than Island Hoppin from here on in
Hello, Jamie and Susannah:
Happy New Year (can we still say that in February???)! Hope you two are doing well and enjoying smooth sailing. We so much enjoyed sailing with you in December... it was just lovely to meet you both! You’re a special couple. I have been meaning to send in this testimonial for weeks and things have just been absolutely insane in the month since we got home... So, work has just slowed down a bit this week and the first thing on my list was to get to writing this review for you... Here goes...
“We love to sail and have done a number of catamaran trips in the Caribbean. So, when friends asked us to join them aboard Island Hoppin, we jumped at the chance. This trip blew all of the others out of the water (only figuratively, not literally!), and I’m afraid we are ruined for sailing aboard anything other than Island Hoppin from here on in. So, what made this trip so special? In addition to sailing with three fantastic couples that we truly enjoyed spending the week with, there were a million things that made this trip spectacular. I’ll focus on just three of these things...
First of all, the cat. Island Hoppin is a fantastic, brand new, state-of-the-art cat. It is quite simply stunningly beautiful. The cabins are spacious and comfortable, and having a separate shower stall in each suite is a true luxury while sailing. The cat offers a number of options for comfortable sitting/lounging areas that allow for interaction or private time, as desired. There is always an option for sun or shade, and so much space that nobody had to “fight” for their spots. The cat is incredibly clean and well-maintained. I can’t imagine sailing on a more luxurious cat.
Second, Captain Jamie... No matter how wonderful a cat is, for me the most important thing is to feel safe while sailing and Jamie delivered on that criteria from Day One. It’s clear that he’s a highly experienced sailor and we all felt in good hands, whatever the sailing conditions. He has that rare combination of being open to adventure (hence, we sailed a lot!) and yet always keeping safety top of mind. In addition to being a great sailor, he is also a fantastic dive master. On one dive, my husband experienced difficulties with his mask while 35 feet under the water. He and Jamie managed to calmly communicate the issue and switch masks (all under water!) – no problem! Whenever we weren’t sailing, we could see Jamie doing something to maintain the boat. He is a true professional... and a pretty amazing bar tender as well! He was also willing to make exceptions to planned itineraries to suit the guests, and no request was denied. We needed to take a ferry to Tortola on the morning that we disembarked the cat and Jamie was so accommodating... ‘forget the ferry, I’ll sail you to Tortola’.
Last, but never least, First Mate/Chef Susannah... It’s difficult to express how much we all loved Susannah, especially since she was in charge of our food for the week. She did an exceptional job! Every meal was perfect... the perfect combination of flavours, the perfect portions – all creatively and beautifully presented. These were not your standard, run-of-the-mill meals but interesting and inventive combinations of absolutely delicious ingredients. Everything was made from scratch by Susannah right down to every sauce and dressing. It was like eating in a 5-star restaurant for an entire week, but a healthy version. We could hardly wait to sit at the table (three times a day!) to see what fantastic meal Susannah had dreamt up. She served a real range of flavors and types of food, and she managed to do each one perfectly!
Being aboard the cat with Jamie and Susannah was so easy and so much fun! The service was exceptional. Every morning, our beds were magically made up while we ate breakfast! It was a truly fantastic trip! Thanks so much...”

We loved our weeks’ vacation aboard Island Hoppin’, the yacht was wonderful and our crew was amazing!
Good morning Jamie & Sue.
Although it has taken us a while, below is our review of the trip. We are both truly grateful for your kindness and hospitality and hope our paths cross again someday. Our trip was amazing for so many reasons and you two played a large role in it... THANK YOU!
Hope this finds you well, hope your charters have been great thus far and that you have plenty more to come!
Sending love to you guys!

We wanted to take a moment to express our appreciation for the incredible vacation aboard the Island Hoppin’ charter in December 2018. Being our first trip to the BVIs, we could not have asked for a more perfect yacht and crew. We enjoyed our time with our friends, new and old, as well as, made new friends with our captain and first mate, Jamie and Susannah. Our group had a mix of couples with sailing history, the novice to the experienced, and our crew did an amazing job catering to all. Jamie and Susannah did an excellent job planning the whole trip, including seeing 55 islands, arranging for cabs and island tours, running to shore, patience with scuba diving, positioning for beautiful sunsets, wonderful meals each day on the yacht, and an incredible lobster dinner ashore. Their attention to detail was incredible and much appreciated. We truly enjoyed having them as a part of our group. They were key in making the whole experience absolutely incredible. In short, we loved our weeks’ vacation aboard Island Hoppin’, the yacht was wonderful and our crew was amazing! -- Ben Lamb & Samantha Barton, December 2018
Wow. Where do we start? Best vacation ever.
Wow. Where do we start? Best vacation ever. Amazing. You can just keep adding superlatives and they still would not be enough to explain how great this trip was.
I´ll try to give more specific details as to what made this so great. When you are starting with a trip on your own yacht in the Caribbean with a captain and a chef, you are off to a pretty good start. But with Jamie and Susannah you now have taken things to a whole new level.
First the boat itself. Island Hoppin is gorgeous, clearly superior to any other boat we saw. And fully loaded with all kinds of toys. There is a reason it was awarded best boat in the 52 foot and under category. The rooms are surprisingly spacious and comfortable. The fly bridge was my favorite feature. Not only was it great to sit up there while we were sailing, but it was also great to sit up there when we were anchored, as it was very comfortable, the view was amazing, and I had a 360 degree view to watch the kids play.
Then there is the crew. Jamie and Susannah are amazing. Kind, pleasant, professional, hard working, tireless, but also so great at what they do. The word that comes to mind is perfection, as they pay attention to every single detail. From finding the best course to sail, to the smoothest sailing, to finding the best places to anchor, often with no other boat in sight. Even the recommendations for shore activities and a restaurant were perfect.
Then there is the food. Every single meal Susannah made was amazing. So delicious, so perfectly prepared, so beautifully presented. And the desserts! The kids are still talking about the banana bread. To make food that is both great for adults and kids is no small feat, but Susannah accomplished it effortlessly. The trip would be worth it just for the food alone. And the special touches, the extra effort. Susannah made us a special Thanksgiving dinner. Now realize you cannot realistically cook a full turkey on a boat, so she made stuffed turkey breast with butternut squash that was beautiful and the best tasting turkey dinner ever.
Then there are the drinks. It is not surprising that Jamie won the award for best cocktail at the boat show. His drinks were not only delicious but perfectly accompanied each meal.
But mostly this trip was about having fun. And boy did we have fun. Scuba diving with Jamie was incredible, taking us to amazing areas like the cavern, showing us all types of fish, and just making it so easy to dive off the boat.
Snorkeling all the time, with Jamie finding us the best locations. Exploring reefs right from the boat, collecting sand dollars, night snorkeling, following stingrays, so much fun.
The lily pad was a big hit, just playing on the water. Sea scooters were always being used, kayaks, stand up paddleboards, noodles, boogie boards were constantly being played with.
However the ultimate fun was the hours and hours of tubing, hot dogging and water skiing. Jamie never tried of driving the kids over and over again.
The hikes were also a lot of fun. One of the special extra touches that Jamie and Susannah provided was the pirate treasure hunt on Salt Island. They made it so much fun, telling the story of the pirate treasure, having us follow the clues to find the treasure, and setting everything up on the island for us to find.
The hike to the Baths on Virgin Gorda was also really cool.
The snorkeling tour on Anegada was one of our favorites, finding conch, lobster and sand dollars.
Dinner at the Wonky Dog was great, best lobster dinner ever.
Overall, the greatest part of this vacation was just being able to spend so much quality time with the family. By not having to always go back and forth between hotel room, restaurant and activity site, we could just relax and enjoy, and had so much extra time to play and hang out.
By being on our own schedule we could spend as much time as we want doing the activities we want to do.
We cannot wait to sail again!

The boat itself is something to marvel at with its private cabins and crew that simply had every detail down
Our first trip ever in sailing in the Caribbean on a luxury boat was by far the most enlightening and relaxing trip we ever had.
Island Hoppin made our dream come true in many ways.
It started out with planning months in advance everything from the food and drinks to the daily agenda we would wish to experience.
The 9 day journey introduced us to a daily wonderful venue of water sports, breathtaking and beautiful islands and beaches only the Caribbean have to offer.
The boat itself is something to marvel at with its private cabins and crew that simply had every detail down from sailing to great meals and off course a fully stocked bar that had all our favorites.
Docking at ports to dine and explore islands as well as diving in surreal underwater reefs were things we will place in our memories and photos forever.
Island Hoppin you are definitely doing things the right way that provides highest level of return in value.
Keep on sailing and we plan on returning as time allow!

Jamie and Susannah listened to our thoughts and wishes for the trip, they were engaged and involved, non-stop, in making our experience memorable, and we truly could not have asked for better guides or a better boat to takes us through an incredible BVI s
“Our family recently had the pleasure of an 8-day trip on Island Hoppin’ in the BVI’s. The boat itself was impeccable, clean, and ready for our adventure. It was stocked with everything we could imagine for water activity (scuba tanks, SUP boards, kayaks, yoga mats, and even a wakeboard and water skis!). We were able to dive 7 days with divers experience levels ranging from beginner to very experienced. Jamie, the captain, was also our dive guide and comfortably navigated us on a variety of sites ranging from reef dives to wreck dives, in various conditions. Susannah did a remarkable job in preparing beautiful, healthy meals (and great desserts!) in a fashion more worthy of a restaurant kitchen instead of a boats galley! Jamie and Susannah listened to our thoughts and wishes for the trip, they were engaged and involved, non-stop, in making our experience memorable, and we truly could not have asked for better guides or a better boat to takes us through an incredible BVI sailing and vacation experience!”
Hopefully we will see them again soon on our next trip!
In January of 2018, we finally went on our first sailboat charter ever in BVI and it couldn’t have been better! It started in St. Thomas when we were escorted to a beautiful brand new 52 foot Lagoon catamaran aptly named Island Hoppin. We were greeted with champagne by the awesome and darling crew Jamie and Susannah!
We then toured the yacht and it was much roomier than I expected and our stateroom (and all the others) was absolutely beautiful with an on-suite bath and large window. The bed and bedding was so comfortable. The entire yacht is so well designed and spacious, there were 3 couples and we had more than enough room to lounge about all over the boat.
We can’t say enough about the crew. Jamie was our Captain and host and Susannah our Chef. They are both so knowledgeable, not to mention fun to visit with, and respectful. Jamie was great getting us out on the water using all of the fun toys, we joked that it was our Senior citizen (we aren’t that old) play day! Jamie knew just how to manage us and help us with instruction on how to use the wide assortment of water toys, anything you could hope for. Jamie is clearly a seasoned Captain. It was our first time on a large sailboat and it was awesome watching the sails go up. The bow has a really nice sitting area and the helm area was very large, so we could spread out up there where the views were spectacular as we watched Jamie maneuver the sails through the beautiful islands.
Susannah went snorkeling with the ladies a couple of times and pointed out all the wonderful sea life. Susannah prepared the most beautiful and delicious meals that were served at the lovely outside dining table which we really enjoyed. Everything was so tasty I was amazed, and it was fun to watch her in action, she is such a gourmet chef!
There is a great tender on the boat. It goes fast, so Jamie would use to pull us around on the tube and take us to various islands and drop us off to snorkel or tour. We were sad to say goodbye to Jamie and Susannah when our 10 glorious days were over. Hopefully we will see them again soon on our next trip!
Drinks were unique and bottomless, the meals were expertly prepared and we are already counting the days to return to the best vacation ever!
Absolutely AMAZING vacation that exceeded our expectations in every way! No shoes. No makeup. No phone. No schedule. Just family, friends, fabulous food, cold drinks and sunsets. Every day was a new adventure! We arose to the smell of freshly brewed coffee that we enjoyed while Susannah prepared a delicious breakfast. We watched our children have the best vacation ever—paddleboarding, kayaking, hiking, snorkeling, cliff jumping, rock climbing, island hopping---and we joined in with every activity. Even our teenagers enjoyed the slow pace of afternoons when we would relax, horizon watch, sail and do nothing while just enjoying the amazing views. Ellen---once again---selected the perfect crew for our family! Jamie and Susannah made us feel truly at home and embraced our active crowd. They had lots of energy to keep up with us, were full of information to teach us about sailing and the islands, and made each day humorous and fun! Drinks were unique and bottomless, the meals were expertly prepared and we are already counting the days to return to the best vacation ever!
Although, we are back home, we will never forget our outstanding charter on the beautiful ISLAND HOPPIN’ with Captain Jamie and First Mate/Chef Susannah!
Captain Jamie and First Mate/Chef Susannah were excellent to have as our crew. They were so accommodating and welcoming. Jamie went over an itinerary for the week with options for changes if weather became a problem. He took care in making sure our trip made room for water sports, beach time and island exploring, diving and snorkeling. We appreciated Jamie’s diving expertise and skills as he took both teens through the resort diving course enabling us all to dive together. What a wonderful experience! We all took advantage of the water sports and Jamie never tired of taking the kids and adults tubing and wake-boarding. For our shore excursions, we appreciated how Jamie and Susannah arranged for water taxis, land taxis, and other reservations to make sure we were able to make the best use of our time and take advantage of the special island excursions. Our meals aboard Island Hoppin’ were superb! Each meal Susannah made was creative, beautifully presented, and delicious (nothing short of gourmet restaurant)! We appreciated her dedication in the galley preparing wonderful treats for us. Jamie was an excellent bartender offering wine selections for our meals and tasty cocktails. Jamie and Susannah worked so well together and made us feel so comfortable. Although, we are back home, we will never forget our outstanding charter on the beautiful ISLAND HOPPIN’ with Captain Jamie and First Mate/Chef Susannah! Thank you for the wonderful memories!
The H. Family ;)
As a team they work so easily together. They have a real partnership that makes their incredibly hard work look easy.
The BVI - Post Irma:
We were amazed at how much of the Islands are back up and running and sad to see places like The Bitter End and Sopers Hole still in the early stages... but considering the extent of the devastation left by Irma, the people of the USVI and the BVI are doing an amazing job recovering. Our trip wasn’t really changed at all... except for the added opportunity to spend a beautiful afternoon at the Oil Nut Bay Resort... which, pre storm, we would would not have been able to do. Aside from seeing some damage on shore, we were not directly impacted. The water and beaches are just as beautiful and if Susannah’s meals and Jamie’s cocktails were any indication... provisioning great food and drinks was not an issue. People should not hesitate to return to the islands. It’s as stunning as ever.
Island Hoppin’ is a beautiful boat with great living space and is so nicely appointed with obvious extras (like the miles of teak decking). The cabins are spacious and comfortable. The ensuite heads are convenient and more like a regular home toilet than any other boat we’ve been on. Making water on board is great. There was always plenty of water for everyone to have a warm shower at the end of a fun day. The master cabin is fantastic. So much storage and space. A quiet generator and plenty of AC made all of the cabins very comfortable for sleeping. The real jewel of this boat is the outdoor living space. The fly bridge seating was our go-to spot day and night. The extra seating on the bow is a fantastic addition as well. The layout makes the boat feel incredibly spacious and luxurious.
Where do I start? Jamie and Susannah are amazing. As a team they work so easily together. They have a real partnership that makes their incredibly hard work look easy.
Jamie is a very competent captain and knowledgeable sailor. We always felt safe and it was very clear that Jamie knows every inch of the boat and all its systems inside and out. He was able to seamlessly reef sails while navigating a squall that blew at 34 knots while lowering fly bridge curtains to keep us dry and comfortable and a few minutes later was serving coffee on deck. All with a smile and a “my pleasure”. When he’s not at the helm (and sometimes while he is), he is a fantastic bar tender. His Pain Killers were better than the ones at any beach bar. He made us signature cocktails (full strength for adults and virgins for Katie) of all different types. Coffee and tea we’re waiting each morning and were made to each persons preference after only asking once on day one. A man of many talents for sure.
Susannah has the talent of a chef with many, many more years of experience. Every meal was fresh, delicious and healthy (not always an easy combination) and plated beautifully. Susannah had to work extra hard for us to accommodate Katie’s gluten, dairy and soy intolerance. She made every meal for Katie to look like whatever anyone else was having so she didn’t feel like she was missing out or different. Katie loved every bit and it was a true vacation for me not having to worry about what Katie was eating! As for all of the adults meals... WOW. Three times a day, every day, Susannah hit it out of the park. A few group favorites: sweet corn cakes with fried eggs; pancakes with banana and bacon; beef poke bowl with fresh mango; salmon with pea and parsley purée; filet mignon with roasted potatoes and asparagus that could have been served in any of Manhattan’s finest restaurants. And the desserts. Holy cow! We are still talking about Susannah’s Banoffee cake (her Granny’s recipe). Susannah cooked her heart out and always did so with a smile.
Obviously the crew is more than competent and take great pride in providing a luxury guest experience... but they were also a delight to spend time with. We truly hope to keep in touch with our new, lovely friends.
We are really hoping to sail with Jamie and Susannah again in the near future.
If you are looking for an unbelievable trip in the BVI, look no further than Island Hoppin’, and Jamie and Susannah... you will have the vacation of a lifetime!!
Dear Jamie and Susannah
We simply had the best family vacation ever!
This was our first catamaran charter and we didn’t have any idea where to start given all the choices of boats, locations, etc. Lynne at CareFree Charters was instrumental in explaining our options, helping us narrow down the various boats and we ultimately booked our trip on the brand new 52 ft Island Hoppin’. Leading up to our departure, Lynne was in constant contact and kept us up to date. We would highly recommend Lynne and CareFree Charters as she understands this business inside and out.
Our family, which includes two teenagers, called the 2018 52ft Lagoon Island Hoppin’ home for a week. This catamaran, Captain Jamie Deehan and Chef Susannah King far surpassed any and all expectations we had. Jamie and Susannah’s passion for sailing, love of the ocean, their hospitality, along with his sailing abilities and in-depth knowledge of the BVI, and her amazing skills in the galley made our trip an unbelievable experience from sunrise until we went to bed every night. Jamie’s knowledge of the ocean and his scuba expertise made us feel very comfortable with our 13 and 15 year olds under his watch, plus he was always very eager to take the girls out for any and all water sports. Susannah amazed us at every meal with her incredible culinary talents. Not only did the food look spectacular, it tasted even better and every day we were so impressed with how she came up with her creations in the ship galley. Jamie and Susannah are great people and a fantastic team!
As for Island Hoppin’, she provided everything we wanted; great sleeping and bathroom accommodations, and plenty of space for eating, sunbathing and relaxation. The sailing between islands was great fun and comfortable and comes fully equipped with all the water-sport toys you want, great scuba gear and you will not have any boat envy while cruising the BVI aboard Island Hoppin’.
If you are looking for an unbelievable trip in the BVI, look no further than Island Hoppin’, and Jamie and Susannah... you will have the vacation of a lifetime!!

Vacation on this Catamaran was incredible!
Vacation on this Catamaran was incredible!
This luxury 52’ catamaran has a large galley and indoor / outdoor area for dining and entertainment. There is plenty of room for the entire family and friends to enjoy all of the luxurious amenities and lounge at their leisure on the spacious galley deck and the bow is perfect for sun bathing.
The state rooms were exceptional, complete with comfy queen beds, lovely linens and clean bathrooms, complemented with hot showers following a day of sailing and exciting water activities.
Toys included paddle boarding, lily pad, single & double canoes, and many fun rides on the 12’ dingy. We really enjoyed snorkeling, fishing, wake boarding, water skiing and so much more!
Captain Jaime always ensured we had endless mimosas, cold IPAs and the best signature Pain Killer cocktails while watching the most amazing sunsets and enjoying the time of our life!
The food was 5 stars! Susanna prepared sensational gourmet meals for us that were elegant, remarkably presented and extremely delicious. Every night we anticipated our specialty desserts all made from scratch.
Jaime is an experienced Captain, very professional and knows how to maneuver the cat extremely well. His talents are far reaching and his patience to teach others and share his knowledge was commendable. Count on Jamie to get you and your family to the perfect stops and the beautiful beach bars to enjoy.
A trip of a lifetime! We thank the crew for an awesome time and the owners of this luxury catamaran for making this trip a reality.

And... the best testimony one can give - we are planning our next trip on this boat with this crew!
We spent 10 days on Island Hoppin with Jamie and Susannah in January 2018. Wow. This was our 4th crewed charter and we have done 3 bareboat charters as well. This trip ranked far above the other trips.
The boat is a brand new 2018 Lagoon. It has some really smart designs re: space - it feels much larger than a 52 foot. We were on a 54 foot Nautitech a couple of years ago and this boat felt so much more spacious with many additional areas on which we could spread out and relax. The boat was loaded with all the toys one can think of. It had a giant lilly pad, scuba gear, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and probably a few others we did not pull out. One day we simply found a calm day on a calm bay and simply played with the toys all day.
The crew is amazing. They are attentive yet give you space. They seemed to read our minds and knew when to get us in the water and playing vs when it was time for an awesome signature cocktail. They introduced us to new spots in the islands, and they were a lot of fun at the same time. Jamie has unlimited patience with guests who are trying to learn new skills on the toys or the boat itself. Susannah´s food and presentation were simply spectacular. Between my wife and I, we put on 15 pounds!
The islands are recovering nicely from the storms. They were nice and green. The beaches were beautiful as always. The water was crystal clear for snorkeling and playing on the toys. The people are even more awesome than before and are excited to see visitors come back to the islands and support their recovery efforts. Here and there one will see some areas that are still damaged, but they have come a very long way!
And... the best testimony one can give - we are planning our next trip on this boat with this crew!
I wouldn´t consider ever doing this again without them as my crew regardless of which vessel they were aboard.
Fresh off another amazing charter with a great group of new friends! We had a great time trying to keep up with fun loving bunch as we sailed, dived and partied through the Virgin Islands!
In a letter addressed to their charter broker Lynne from Carefree Charters this is what they had to say:
Regarding our recent charter. First off your walking us through a series of 4 different vessels due to reasons beyond anyone´s control was the most professional job possible and your concern for keeping the price under control couldn´t have been done better.
Concerning the Island Hoppin´ I can´t say enough about this vessel. We suffered no boat envy in any of the mooring fields we visited and I would occasionally just walk about the deck touching things and feeling pride in just having the sense to go with such a vessel even though It was mostly a combination of just luck and your good work in getting me there. The cuisine was far superior than I could have ever imagined. There was simply nothing left that I could have desired along with service above and beyond our needs. Concerning our crew, I haven´t the words to do them justice. I would have assumed that a more seasoned couple would have been an asset prior to meeting Jamie and Susanna. I couldn´t have been further off the mark on this. Besides being there for everything we could possibly need I feel as though we bonded as friends for life. I wouldn´t consider ever doing this again without them as my crew regardless of which vessel they were aboard. Jamie has excellent captain skills but his management skills are more amazing. After 44 years of working at sea I know of which I speak.
I give the owner much credit for seemingly little things that made big differences. A new Bermese teak dining table in the cockpit dining area that made a huge difference as I got to see what it had replaced. The amount of teak in the decks that I understand was an extra expense made a huge difference over the fiberglass that would have been there if not for the extra care.

PS thank you for everything
They are a wonderful team on a great boat and we came home very happy
Hello Susannah and Jamie!
Sorry it has taken me so long to sit down and write a review. Here are some thoughts, use them however you like
Our family of five had the best vacation we have ever had with Jamie and Susannah on our Island Hoppin charter. Being new to life on a boat, we didn’t know what to expect. Susannah and Jamie’s hospitality won us over right away. They were warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home! As they got to know us, they quickly planned a route around the islands with the perfect stops for diving, snorkeling, shopping, hiking, water skiing, and any fun we wanted to have.
They are knowledgeable about the history of the islands and had some wonderful stories to tell! They also helped us understand the ongoing recovery of the area after the hurricanes. They knew what was not open and what had recently opened, so we could go ashore and shop and support the comeback of some local businesses.
Jamie is an excellent boat handler, and together he and Susannah were a top notch team. As First Mate and Chef, there was a lot of work to do, and Susannah did it with a smile and an Irish twinkle in her eye. She is a wonderful chef and the food was fabulous. Presented and served beautifully, we looked forward to every meal!
They struck a wonderful balance of personal attention while being unobtrusive, and it was very easy to be together with them. They are a wonderful team on a great boat and we came home very happy. Many good memories were made on our trip, and Jamie and Susannah played a big role in that. I hope our paths cross again!
The trip was everything we hoped it would be and MORE!
We spent a week on Island Hoppin’ with Jamie and Susannah. The trip was everything we hoped it would be and MORE! The boat is a beauty - new, great condition, gorgeous, spacious, plenty of room for our party of 6. We never felt cramped or on top of one another. The BVIs are as beautiful as always and repairs and improvements are going on daily. Watching the sunsets from the boat took our breath away. We cannot say enough wonderful things about Jamie and Susannah. They are professional, fun, knowledgeable and the trip would not have been the same without the two of them. They went above and beyond to make our week fun and memorable. Susannah’s cooking is scrumptious and Jamie’s Pain Killers cannot be beat. The menu was varied and the presentation of the three daily meals plus snacks was top notch. Jamie was a wonderful and patient scuba instructor and the diving and snorkeling were absolutely delightful - we felt like we were in an aquarium. We also loved the tubing, water skiing, paddle boarding and jumping on the aqua lily pad!
Thank you guys! We look forward to welcoming you back on board

If we ever use another captain and chef they will have a tough act to follow.
Dear Susannah and Jamie,
Thank you so much for you hospitality and hard work this week! This type of vacation was a brand new experience for me and I did´t know what to expect...the two of you made it just wonderful. I wish you the very best in life and hope our paths cross again. Merry Christmas too!
Susannah and Jamie,
This was defiantly our best family vacation ever and you two are a big part of the reason. You are both very good at what you do and you obviously take great pride in what you do. Thank you for your hard work and great service. Hope to cruise with you again. If we ever use another captain and chef they will have a tough act to follow. The boat wasn´t too shabby either!! Great getting to know you as well. Merry Christmas.
Thank you Jamie and Susannah for a fantastic week! You two are awesome company to have around. Your knowledge on so many subjects and humor and good-naturedness was contagious and you inspired me in many ways. Hope to catch you all again sometime. Hopefully in the Canary Islands.
Susannah and Jamie,

I can wholeheartedly recommend the Island Hoppin’ experience based solely on the crew
As a thirty year veteran of the dive travel business and co-owner of a catering /hospitality company, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Island Hoppin’ experience based solely on the crew. I had the opportunity to charter with Susannah and Jamie last year and found it one of the most customer centric . They provide a top notch experience all around, and with a brand new 52 Lagoon under their care, they will certainly take it over the top! Jamie is an exceptionally knowledgeable captain, excellent boat handler, and he knows BVI diving as well as anyone I’ve met. Susannah is an excellent chef with great creative ability. Her flavor combinations and presentations are wonderful, and she provides a variety to please any palate. Everyone on the charter was amazed by the food and personal service. Susannah and Jamie can match the experience to anyone’s preferences and abilities, and I am already recommending Island Hoppin’ to my most discerning clients.
Cheers and Merry Christmas,
