Captain/Chef Daryl
Captain Daryl was born in Ohio and moved to South Carolina at a very young age. He spent a lot of his time as a youth fishing along the many rivers, tributaries and swamps in the midlands of the Palmetto State. He realized his passion for boats wakeboarding with his family every weekend on the large man made Lake Murray.
After receiving a BA from the University of South Carolina, he decided to make a change and moved to the Island of St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands in 2005. Daryl has worked as a professional Chef for most of his adult career including tenor at a top ten restaurant in the Caribbean, Savant, as executive chef. This is also where he discovered his love for sailing. He has lived aboard his own sailboats and cruised the Caribbean with over 50,000 NM sailed the past 15 years.
His dedication to being a top tier chef has given him an insatiable appetite for guest satisfaction. Pun intended! In his down time Daryl enjoys racing small sailboats, fishing, hiking, scuba diving and woodworking. He has extensive knowledge of the waters surrounding the Virgin Islands and is happy to recommend specific destinations based on guests needs and desires for their trip. Daryl believes safety and respect for the environment around you will always provide for an optimal, fun filled trip. He can’t wait to experience more of the Virgin Islands with new faces in sunny beautiful places!
Captain Daryl holds a US Coastguard 100 ton masters captains license. He has been endorsed in Sailing and Towing Vessels as well. Daryl is Certified in CPR/First Aid for Adults and Children. In addition, he has also been certified from the US Coast Guard in Advanced Fire Fighting and Medical Care Provider.
Chef/Captain/Mate Leala
Leala was born and raised in Southern California. She grew up a block from the ocean and has been transfixed and in love with the sea ever since. After she finished raising her two children, and due to a bit of empty nest syndrome, she left her longtime career as a Hollywood hairstylist and took to the sea. She went on to sail the eastern seaboard multiple times from the Bahamas up to Nantucket. She has been a chef on yachts, from Alaska to the Caribbean on and off since 2014. She loves hosting guests, accommodating their wants and needs and showing them all that boat life has to offer. Leala is an avid snorkeler and enjoys guiding tours in or around the waters of the Bahamas and the Virgin Islands. Leala’s culinary expertise centers around quality local ingredients including the best local seafood she can find. Having grown up in Los Angeles, she is proud to be fluent in many cuisines including Latin, American, and Asian. Her experience in the Caribbean has furthered her desire to branch out in culinary endeavors. Her aim is to plan and deliver a wonderful menu for your week aboard. She can accommodate almost all dietary restrictions, including paleo, gluten free, vegan and keto and even picky kids! She also holds a US Coast Guard 100 Ton Master’s Captains License

Luna Bliss Guest Reviews
Christmas Trip
There is something magical casting off from shore and leaving the land behind as you set out on an adventure on the ocean. Our family wanted to experience a sailing vacation for Christmas. Dillon Ihlefield from Yacht.Vacations was the first person to respond to our inquiries. He was responsive, informative and guided us through the process seamlessly. Dillon introduced us to Cap’n Blaine from SV Abundance. The rest is a pile of happy salt-soaked selfies.
Cap’n Blaine hoisted sail, took us to beautiful bays, showed us the underwater coral gardens blooming with tropical fish. Cap’n Blaine’s first mate and chef extraordinaire, Leala constantly surprised and delighted us at meal time. We asked for seafood and Leila served it in spades. But she kept us guessing with
a wide range of recipes, she also whipped up a vegetarian alternative for our friend.
Every day was an adventure. Christmas lunch we ate tacos at a floating restaurant called Lime Out in Coral Bay. Definitely the most fun way to eat tacos. Cap’n Blaine knows these waters. From where to moor and where to snorkel. He knows the history of the islands. He’s a good skipper and a good bloke.
The Virgin Islands are beautiful, the water is clear and warm and there’s lots of sea life. One week is not long enough. Even so, we came back to shore happier and healthier and the better for seeing the world from a different perspective.

Amazing Trip
We had an amazing trip. Boat is spacious and stocked with all the ingredients you need for an awesome time in the Bahamas- snorkel gear, paddle boards, towels, underwater camera, and many other accoutrements. Whether you’re looking for adventure or just to relax, Captain Pete and his amazing sidekick/hostess Leala will make it happen. You can explore caves and island ruins, go hiking or seek out interesting sea life, and then finish off the day with a cocktail on a gorgeous, obscure beach, away from the tourist stuff (unless you like the tourist stuff-and he can help with that too!). There’s a tv with a dvd player in case you want to watch movies as you drift off to sleep. I can’t say enough about how perfect a hostess Leala was. She made us a yummy breakfast everyday and cocktails in the afternoon and was so sweet, coming with us to excursions and taking pictures whenever we’d forget. The two of them had just the right balance of spending time with us and letting us be, as on any boat trip with a captain this can be a concern. I highly recommend anyone to book Captain Pete and can’t wait to go back, as this was one of the best trips I’ve ever had!
Awesome Experience!
Always wanted to know what it might be like to Island hop in the Bahamas. Now I know! Loved it! Awesome Experience! Spent 5 nights on Bullship for a father-daughter adventure. Capt Pete and Leala took very good care of us. We shopped together for provisions. Leala cooked a hot breakfast for us every am. She helped us with other meal prep as needed. (Not to mention delicious rum drinks anytime upon request). Nice way to relax and end the day! They were both accommodating, friendly, and genuine! Beds were comfy, and hot shower too!
