Captain Chris:
Matt’s connection to the ocean began early - his first birthday was spent on a boat at Rottnest Island off the coast of WA, setting the course for a lifelong passion for the sea. Growing up in Western Australia, he was constantly on the water, whether fishing, free-diving, or spending time on family and friends’ boats. His love for the ocean extended into competitive sports, excelling in water polo, swimming, and triathlons at a state level.

At 19, inspired by stories of working on superyachts abroad, Matt packed his bags and set off for France with little more than curiosity and ambition. It wasn’t long before he realized yachting was more than just a working holiday - it was a career that would take him around the world.

Now, with nearly 18 years of experience, Matt has worked aboard a variety of yachts ranging from 20 to 80 meters, catering to high-profile clients and navigating some of the world’s most remote and breathtaking destinations. He holds a captain’s license for vessels up to 3000gt and has accumulated over 250,000 nautical miles (500,000 km) at sea, including more than 15 Atlantic crossings. His extensive travels have taken him to the Mediterranean, Caribbean, French Polynesia, Indonesia, the Arctic, and even Antarctica.

Since returning to Australia in 2020, Matt has continued his career as a captain, bringing his wealth of experience to both local and international guests. Whether exploring the rugged coastlines of Western Australia, the Great Barrier Reef, or the untouched beauty of remote northern waters, he takes pride in delivering exceptional experiences and showcasing the best of what Australia has to offer.

Chief Officer Jay:
Professional Background:

Byron joins us from New Zealand and has been working in the yachting industry for over 14 years. Yachting has brought him all over the world, cruising as far North as Alaska and as far South as Patagonia and all through the Pacific. Having a busy last few years working on completing his Master 3000.

In his spare time, Byron likes to explore new destinations in search of the best spots for surfing and kite surfing or jumping off a mountain with his paraglider whilst experiencing new cultures along the way.

Favourite Charter Destination: Byron’s favourite charter destination is the Pacific Islands, but to say one country would have to be Papua New Guinea, he was lucky enough to work on a vessel that liked to volunteer Crew expertise back in the community were needed. The best of both worlds some would say.

Chief Officer Jay:
Professional Background:

I have been working in superyachting since 2008 and have been employed on commercial charter yachts from 50-90m. Cruising all of the America’s,most of Northern, Eastern and western Mediterranean, and have travelled to over 50 countries. Tried my best to fish them all too.

Favourite Charter Destination: Turkey, from Istanbul right down to Bodrum

Favourite Yachting Experience: Diving and fishing guest charter with a support vessel in the southern Caribbean islands, A,B,C islands and surrounds.

Bosun Mitchell:
Professional Background:

I started driving for my father’s water taxi business, driving classic wooden boats on the Yarra river in Melbourne. I then moved into yachting and have worked on a number of vessels all over the world from 35m to 70m in length.

Favourite Charter Destination: Bahamas

Favourite Yachting Experience: Sailing through Canada and seeing whales and icebergs

Deckhand Ari

Professional Background:

In between Surf Coaching, concreting and landscaping Ari enjoyed competing in Surf competitions throughout New Zealand and fishing the far north. His attraction to yachting was a life on the water and the cool places it will take him.

Favourite Charter Destination: Fiji

Favourite Yachting Experience: Ari really enjoyed anchoring at Tavarua Island in Fiji and having the opportunity to surf Cloud Break! Bit of a life goal. He also made the most of exploring local restaurants and cuisines.

Deckhand Cruz

Professional Background:

Cruz started his career in commercial boating as a deckhand at 23. He spent 6 years around Great Keppel Island on Ferries, Barges, Sail Charters and Dive ops. With his Coxswains in hand he was able to stand in as Relief Skipper. A budding Mischief Captain in the making perhaps?

Favourite Charter Destination: Sicily

Favourite Yachting Experience: Having grown up in a smaller Queensland town Cruz really appreciates the social aspect of yachting and the opportunities to meet and work with people from all over the world, even right here in his own backyard.

Deckhand Liam

Professional Background:

With three years´ experience in yachting, Liam built on a passion that originated from growing up around boats and the water. His previous background in real estate and property development has shaped his professional life, but a love for the ocean and maritime adventure has always been at the core. Lion is drawn to the destinations where there is good surf and the beer is cold.

Favourite Charter Destination: The South Pacific is a memorable destination for Liam. The combination of stunning islands, clear blue seas, and the sheer vastness of the region created an unforgettable adventure. The beauty of the South Pacific, along with its sense of remoteness, made it an experience like no other.

Favourite Yachting Experience: His favourite yachting experience was taking charter guests diving and spearfishing in the untouched waters of Papua New Guinea, exploring vibrant reefs and remote locations.

Chief Engineer Marin

Marin is Mischiefs longest standing crew member having worked onboard for 8 years! He is a man of great knowledge and many a story, best heard in real life.

Professional Background:

Cass began working in Childcare at the age of 16 and nannying 5 children from 17 years.
She spent a little time as a personal assistant before finding herself yachting in the Mediterranean throughout Summer. Once Cass landed in South Africa she crossed into Personal Training… since then she has returned to the world of Yachting, enjoying the opportunity to combine the skills acquired over the years.

Favourite Charter Destination: Overseas - Malta. Aus - Whitsundays.

Favourite Yachting Experience: Beach picnics and themed events onboard are hands down the best times on charter yachts. Her favourite on Mischief so far would have to be the Superhero Party we had onboard for one teenaged guest. All 14 crew and 9 guests wore full costumes for the day. The adults definitely got just as much enjoyment out of it as the kids (maybe more). The party finished at sunset with an arm wrestling competition between the crew and guests. The finale between the oldest son and his father. It was a day to remember for sure.

2nd Stewardess
